Auditorium Improvements
Several improvements were made between 2000 and 2003. The funds were raised by various groups within the club.

The original beige curtains were the first improvement as they were getting quite frayed. Footlights and overhead stage and auditorium lights were installed controlled at a central location.

Under Jim Cook’s direction a great sound system was built and included the purchase of wireless microphones.

These improvements made Farnsworth Hall a favorite of the many performers here during the winter season. The improvements also enhanced our own annual Variety Show.

Kitchen Upgraded to Commercial Standards

The Club had been using the kitchen unaware that it did not meet the Maricopa County Health Department requirements for use in serving the general public. A 2003 Mother’s Day Dinner was planned and the poster advertising it came to the attention of a health inspector here for other reasons. The Club was prohibited from using the kitchen for other than pot luck dinners and food warming.

Funds for remodeling the kitchen to commercial restaurant standards were raised by various means but principally from the Variety shows.

Another provision allows access only to kitchen helpers who have food handler’s cards.
