Rodney L. Staley passed away on August 29, 2015, at Banner Hospital in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by friends and family. Rod was born March 20, 1953, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Kale Eugene Staley and Ruth Marjorie Staley of Kiowa, Colorado. Rod was a graduate of Strasburg High School and went on to a successful career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2014.
Rod is survived by his wife, Theresa A. Tiehen of Mesa, Arizona; his three children, Jason (wife Lauren), Jonathan and Jeffrey; two granddaughters, Alice and Claire; a brother, Roger Staley of Castle Rock, Colorado, and a sister, Sharon Bullard (husband Jim) of Longmont, Colorado.
Rod very much enjoyed being a father and grandfather, and valued time spent with family and friends. An avid sports fan, he found joy in coaching his sons’ Little League teams and spent countless hours playing catch and teaching the perfect jump shot.
Rod was a fan of watching sports and cheered faithfully for the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. He was an enthusiastic photographer and loved walking along the nature trail taking pictures. Rod was a member of the Dreamland Villa Photography Club. He recently won 2nd Place in the 2015 Photo Contest for one of his photographs. Rod was also a member of the Dreamland Villa Computer Club.
As an active member of the Castle Rock Eagles and East Mesa Elks Clubs, Rod was involved with civic activities and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Rod will be deeply missed by all, but his spirit will live on in each of us who knew him and loved him.
