Farnsworth Hall - Kee Card required
A petition to amend the Bylaws has been submitted by the Dreamland Villa Retirement Community (DVRC) Membership to the Board of Directors. The purpose is to change the Bylaws of DVRC by requiring Board Members, Standing and Ad Hoc Committee’s Chairperson to be members 55 years of age or older and be a homeowner within our community. Dreamland Villa Retirement Community (DVRC) is a 501(c)7 nonprofit social club as designated by the IRS. DVRC has been given the stewardship of complying with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements and providing documentation of age verification to Maricopa County. As the declining membership in the social club continues, DVRC can no longer financially support the facilities and amenities of the social club and will fail. At that point DVRC could stand to lose the 55+ overlay that is currently in place. With that in mind, it is imperative that we are forward looking and have a Board in place whose priority is to protect our 55+ community. Having individuals who are 55+ on the Board and Committee Chairpersons in place will aid in that endeavor. Furthermore, homeowners residing in DVRC have a substantial financial stake in the community. If the 55+ overlay is removed, we could see our property values go down, property taxes go up and the prospect of living in a multi-generational community. Renters are valuable members of our community, but they do not have the same financial investment at stake and could move on to another 55+ community. A Town Hall meeting for members has been scheduled for Sunday, March 2 at 2:00pm at Read Hall to receive accurate information, ask questions and have an amicable discussion. A Special Membership Meeting to vote on the Bylaw changes has been scheduled for March 8, at 10:00am at Farnsworth Hall. You must have your valid Kee Card to attend and vote. Read the amendments below.
