Donna Hanson (2014)Donna Hanson
In 1997 Donna served as secretary of the club for two years. She also served as president in 1999. She was instrumental in organizing some of the potlucks in those early years. And more recently she and Howard were regulars at the Golden Corral brunches on the third Thursday of every month. She referred to herself as a genealogist since 1976 and she actively facilitated the club’s Genealogy Program as the computer became so vital in doing family search. Early on those searches meant trips to the Mesa Family Search Center, but as more and more information became available online, it began a continuing computer class for members to continue learning about what was available. Members were helping members as they did from the start of the club. It was only at the beginning of this year, when Donna’s health became a concern, that she gave up her writing for the Citizen. She was such a wonderful ambassador for the club. She encouraged members to get involved with activities of the club. It was part of her job as a Travel Agent for Air Jet Travel in Janesville, Wisconsin, to welcome people and to pass on wonderful bits of information. She was a natural using these skills in the club. She will be missed. Many of us thought of her as a friend. She was like the glue that held us all together. |
